Hello! My name is

Ryan Janczy

I’m a creative based in in Somerville, MA and I like dogs, cooking for friends, gardening, skiing, and spending as much time outdoors as possible. I run a marketing agency (azore group) and I think aliens are definitely real.

I’ve always been hesitant to share my work at all, especially my personal art or writing. But we’re here now and no time like the present, so β€˜F’ it.

The idea behind Chuck Drifter started in my college dorm in 2012 listening to some K.Flay and hippo campus with my buddy Connor - thinking of all the places we can go, people we could meet, people we could BE. We stared into our near-empty red solo cups and with a chuckle and some serotonin still left in our swollen brains as we made up these alter egos, superhero versions of ourselves. Mine was

I’ve always struggled with figuring out my place in the world. I have anxiety and from time to time feel like I’m not good enough. Chuck Drifter was this β€œperfect” version of myself that I envisioned if I were to get my shit together - the best version of me. You know… everyone thinks they’ll have 6-pack abs one day.

This chuck Drifter dude I made up was the guy that showed up for friends and family, traveled and endlessly learned about this floating rock we call Earth. The one that takes care of his body and the planet. Who stood up for what was right and those less fortunate. The guy that spoke with confidence and conviction. A modern day cowboy, gangster, politician.

Time went on, the real world hit…and it hit hard. For the first time in my life, there was a feeling of β€œI don’t know who I am”. I didn’t like that and the man in the mirror kept thinking back to Chuck. What would Chuck do? It became this silly little joke I had to motivate myself - sort of like an angel on my shoulder situation.

I’m proud of who I’ve become, someone my younger self would look up to. I think that’s all Chuck Drifter ever was, me loving myself. Realizing that everything is in front of me and that life is coming from me, not at me.

So here’s to loving ourselves and keeping each other well, that’s what Chuck Drifter is all about. I’ll be using it as my personal portfolio and main creative outlet to share with the world. Check out the shop for commissions, tattoo tickets, prints, up-cycled & vintage goods, and who the hell knows what else you might find.

Fasten your seatbelt and enjoy the ride!

Chuck Drifter.
